Bucharest Virtual Prayer Walk

Jessica recently created this virtual prayer walk for Bucharest.  She submitted it to the IMB to be published on their website, but while we wait, we thought it would be good to go ahead and share it here.  Also, we recently learned that some other missionaries in our city are working on a more detailed prayer walk brochure.  It is exciting to see how the Lord is creating a multi-denominational prayer movement in our city.

Please join with us in praying for Bucharest!

1. Parliament – government

The Parliament Palace is the main government building.  Please pray that the leaders of Romania would lead with honesty and integrity and do what is best for the people.  "Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders.” (Exodus 18:21)

2.  Patriarchal Cathedral – Orthodoxy

The Patriarchal Cathedral is the center of Romanian Orthodox Christianity.  Most Romanians consider themselves to be Christians, because they were baptized as infants, but that does not often translate into a life that seeks after the Lord.  Please pray that Romanians will see that true joy comes from knowing and following Jesus.

3.  University Square – college students

Around 500,000 university students are in Bucharest.  It is often difficult for students to balance work and school, since most have to work to pay their bills.  At the end of the semester, they have difficult exams, often requiring lots of memorization.  Please pray that God will use this time in their lives to draw them to Himself.

4. Old Town – night life

”Aren’t we all sinners?” asks the sign on this popular pub in Bucharest’s “Old Town” district.  During the day this area is filled with people walking the cobblestone streets and eating together.  But after dark the nightclubs come alive with people partying and drinking the night away.  “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” (1 Cor. 13:6)

5. Liberty Center Mall – shopping/materialism

Bucharest has multiple malls and boutiques for shopping.  People in general are very conscious of how they dress and like nice things, which leads to a very materialistic outlook.  “You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matt. 6:24)

6. Cismigiu Park – parks

When the weather is nice, the many beautiful parks in Bucharest teem with life.  They are a great place to meet with friends and have spiritual conversations.  Please pray the believers in this city will take the opportunity to share their faith with those around them.
